[Other] BREAKING NEWS - Jordanian Foreign Minister Promises Return Of Heba Labadi & Abdul Rahman Marei This Week

Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has just tweeted that "Heba Al Labadi and Abdel Rahman Merhi will return home before the end of the week. The government has worked to release them since the first day in strict accordance with the instructions of His Majesty King Abdullah II to take all necessary steps to return them safely at all costs."
This follows announcements in the Israeli media that Israel and Jordan have reached an agreement regarding the release of Jordanian prisoner Heba al-Labadi and Abdul Rahman Marei, and that Israel's National Security Adviser, Meir Ben-Shabbat will be visiting Jordan to sign the deal.
Whilst this is fantastic news, one needs to ask why does the National Security Adviser of Israel need to come to Jordan and sign an agreement? Both Labadi and Marei are held illegally without charge or trial - surely their immediate release, along with an apology, compensation for their suffering, and prosecution of their torturers would be the norm. What agreement has been agreed that needs the Israeli National Security Adviser to visit Jordan to sign?
We hope the Jordanian government isn't using Heba Labadi's release as a cover to further capitulate to Israel's demands on Jordanian lands and sovereignty. On 30th October 2019, it was revealed on Israeli media that Israel is holding Heba Labadi as a hostage for land it wants from Jordan. Israel illegally occupied Jordanian border lands in 1950, under the peace treaty Israel kept these occupied lands under a 25 year lease agreement which ended in October 2019. The land should now be returned to Jordan, but Israel is blackmailing the Jordanian government to renew the lease in return for the release of Jordanian prisoners including Heba Labadi.
