With Julian Assange's extradition hearing about to enter it's third week, Inminds Human Rights Group along with the Islamic Human Rights Commission, held a Guerilla Projection to demand freedom for journalist and publisher Julian Assange.
If extradited, Assange faces 175 years in prison on 18 bogus charges of espionage and computer misuse, over WikiLeaks’ publication of secret American military documents exposing US war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq.
'Free Assange' images were projected on London's iconic landmark Marble Arch, situated at the start of Oxford Street, London's busiest street.
Abbas Ali, chair of Inminds Human Rights Group, said "the persecution of Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning is about instilling fear, about terrifying journalists and whistleblowers not to expose the ugly secrets of empire. And it's working. The quisling liberal media, that once courted Assange for scoops, has betrayed him, and fallen into line, to become another weapon of the empire, used to attack Wikileakes and Assange. The future of Journalism is on trial here, yet the mainstream media hardly covers it, and the coverage is largely distorted to serve empire. We salute these courageous heroes of truth, and demand an end to this farcical extradition and unconditional freedom for Julian Assange."
