No To Normalisation - Guerilla Projection On Marble Arch

On 18th September 2020, Inminds Human Rights Group and the Islamic Human Rights Commission along with Bahraini activists held a guerilla projection to condemn all normalisation with apartheid Israel.

The projection followed the public betrayal of the Palestinians by the dictatorships of the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, in normalising relations with the oppressor Israel at the White House on 15th September 2020.

Images condemning UAE and Bahrain, and calling for rejection of all acts of normalisation, were projected on London's iconic landmark Marble Arch, situated at the start of Oxford Street, London's busiest street.

Inminds chair Abbas Ali said "Apartheid, occupation, colonisation and genocidal violence are not normal, their can be no normalisation with Israel. Whilst several Arab countries like Saudi Arabia have betrayed the Palestinians with secret close alliances with Israel for many decades, this agreement a new low of shame. To normalise with oppression is to become an oppressor."

Massoud Shadjareh, chair of IHRC, said "This shows how weak these governments are, Bahraini government and indeed Emirati government are doing this out of weakness, not out of strength. They are doing it because Trump and Netanyahu need success. They are under so much pressure.. so they have put pressure on these stooges of theirs to actually deliver. They are delivering something that they don't even believe in themselves, they are delivering something their own citizens don't support.. in some ways this is good, we know that behind the scenes they were supporting apartheid state, now they have come out, I think this will be the beginning of their downfall.. their own citizens are going to reject them.."

Sayed Ahmed Al Wadaei, Director of Advocacy at the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy, said "The decision has caused an outrage internally in Bahrain and it was made against the will of the people by Al Khalifa dictatorship. The government has already started a threatening campaign for those who are opposing the State’s decision. It’s a cause that unites people internally to oppose and resist normalisation. If Bahrain is serious about peace, it should end its war in Yemen not betray Palestine and justify the occupation."

"Today is Al-Quds Day, it was started by Ayatullah Khomeini, one of the first things he did after the Iranian revolution was to impose boycotts and sanctions on the apartheid state of Israel and the apartheid state of South Africa. South Africa's apartheid state is history, now we have got to turn on the apartheid state of Israel - we have to impose our own boycotts.."
