7th October 2015, www.inminds.com

Assalaamu Alaikum

Suleiman Skafi has been caged without charge or trial for 11 months (since 12th Nov 2014) as part of Israel's illegal policy of punitive administrative detention where Palestinians are caged indefinitely on rolling 6 month detention orders. Israel is threatening Skafi with another 6 months detention when his current order expires next month. To protest his imprisonment without charge or trial, Skafi has been on hunger strike 38 days (since 1st September 2015) .

Without food Slafi has lost nearly a third of his body weight (23Kg) and he can no longer walk. He is suffering extreme pain in his stomach, head and joints, dizziness and has difficulty in speaking. As punishment for hunger striking he was moved to Israel's remote G4S secured Negev prison in dessert. Caged in solitary confinement, he was denied personal possessions and adequate cloths and his family were denied permission to visit him. His health rapidly deteriorated and he has now been moved to Soroka hospital in Ber Sheeba (4th Oct 2015).

30 years old Skafi is from Al Khalil in the occupied West Bank. He has been imprisoned on five occasions having been caged for over 6 year in total. He has been on hunger strike several times, including the mass "Karameh" hunger strike in 2012. Skafi was tortured during interrogation and as a result suffers chronic pain in his joints and legs. Israel has denied him medical treatment for the wounds inflicted on him during torture.

Skafi has rejected Israel's offer of release after 6 month renewed administrative detention. His demand is that his administrative detention not be renewed when it expires next month on 12th November, so its imperative that pressure be put on Israel now to release him before the next six month administrative detention order kicks in.

Please join us on Thursday 3pm outside G4S HQ to demand freedom for Suleiman Skafi; an end to Israel's illegal practice of Administrative Detention; and to demand G4S end its complicity in Israel's crimes against the prisoners.

FREEDOM FOR MAHMOUD ABUJOAD FRARJAH

At the protest we will also be demanding freedom for Mahmoud Abujoad Frarjah who is currently caged in Israel's G4S secured Ofer prison.

Grass roots activist Mahmoud Abujoad Frarjah and his wife Sireen were abducted by the Israeli occupation forces last month on 9th Sept 2015 whilst travelling to Jordan to visit family.

His wife Sireen has since been released but Mahmoud still remains caged at Israel's G4S secured Ofer prison in the occupied West Bank. He was initially accused of stone throwing at a demonstration a year ago. When he proved that he was not even present at that demonstration the charge was dismissed by the military court. But he still remains imprisoned at Ofer as under Israeli apartheid law Palestinians who are rearrested within 5 years of being released from prison can be held indefinitely. The fact that he was released 7 years ago and not 5 years ago (for another trumped up charge of stone throwing) seems to make no difference to Israeli justice.

Mahmoud was targeted for his activism in the Jordan Valley - he works tirelessly to help preserve and support indigenous communities. Most of the Jordan Valley is under Zone C - deemed an Israeli military zone where local Palestinian communities are being actively ethically cleansed from their land, and their stolen land being handed over to the illegal settlements. The military prevents the indigenous Palestinian communities from building any attachments to the land such as building schools and homes. Among the many project Mahmoud worked on was Samra School - a simple mud brick school that helped provide education for 70 local children. In September 2015 the Israeli military demolished Samra school and a few weeks later they arrested Mahmoud.

AYMAN AL-TABEESH FREED AFTER BEING CAGED 2.5 YEARS WITHOUT CHARGE OR TRIAL

Palestinian former hunger striker Ayman Al-Tabeesh is finally free after being caged in Israel's G4S secured dungeon at Ofer for two and half years without charge or trial. Ayman Al-Tabeesh has spent nearly a third of his life so far - 11 years - being caged in an Israeli dungeon during which time he has been on five hunger strikes. We would like to thank those activists who supported Inminds campaign of protests outside G4S HQ to free Ayman Al-Tabeesh during his hunger strike in May and June 2014..

The campaign was launched by Innovative Minds (inminds.com) and the Islamic Human Rights Commission (ihrc.org) on the occasion of Al Quds Day 2012 (on 17th August 2012), since then we have held actions every fortnight in support of Palestinian prisoners, if you can spare two hours twice a month then please join the campaign by coming to the next action.

"[Deportation at the airport] We saw the injured [Turkish] men going through.. a lot had a leg cut out of their trousers or an arm cut out of their top. It had been cut out to treat their wounds.. they were covered in blood, blood that had been there for three days, and some of them had wounds that were still bleeding.. What upset me most was seeing the dozen men, one after another, hobbling across the terminal, with a bandaged foot. I couldn't ask them why so many of them had a bandaged foot, I couldn't ask them what had happened, because if they spoke or if any of us spoke to them the Israelis beat the injured person.. We later found out that they had these injuries on the tops of their feet from when the troops came down from the helicopter on the Mavi Marmara, and they came down firing - they had been shot from above. Some of the men that were killed were shot at close range - head and chest, but a dozen of the men who were shot, among 59 people who were shot, they were shot at the tops of their feet - the bullets were coming down.. They weren't given a wheelchair or a pair of crutches, and if any of the other passengers stood up and tried to offer [help].. that person was dragged away and smacked by these Israelis. The Israeli soldiers sat on the floor, laughed and sniggered and made every one of these Turkish men hobble and hop all the way across, some 200 metres, everyone of them, one by one, made to do that purely for the sick amusement of the Israeli soldiers."
