On Thursday 4th June 2015 we will be protesting outside the AGM of British security contractor G4S for its complicity in Israel's crimes against Palestinian prisoners. Please join us.
The day of the AGM, 4th June, is also the United Nations designated International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. On 19th August 1982, at its emergency special session on Palestine, the General Assembly "appalled at the great number of innocent Palestinian and Lebanese children victims of Israel’s acts of aggression”, decided to commemorate 4 June of each year as the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression (resolution ES-7/8). We will commemorate the day by focusing our protest on the child victims of Israel's G4S secured dungeons and torture dens.
Just today (1 June 2015) Palestinian lawyer Hiba Masalha visiting abducted Palestinian children from an orphanage in Tulkarem, being caged in Israel's notorious G4S secured dungeon at Megiddo, reported that the children had been beaten and tortured in a "heinous" way by Israeli soldiers during interrogation. The children had been "terrified, threatened and blackmailed" in contravention of international law and conventions advocating children's rights. Masalha visited Section 3 of Megiddo prison where 68 children are currently caged. G4S provides the entire central command room for Megiddo. It was at Megiddo that Palestinian father of 2 children, Arafat Jaradat was tortured to death in 2013.
Schoolboy Mahir Hussein, told Masalha that Israeli soldiers had fired gunshots into the air to threaten him and two other teenagers when they were detained. Israeli soldiers threatened to kill him before two soldiers beat him "violently."He was left bleeding for six hours with hands and feet cuffed. The boy was afterwards moved to a hospital in a military base in Petah Tiqva where doctors required "24 stitches" to seal the wound on his head. The next day he was taken to al-Jalame interrogation center for a period of 20 days during which he was beaten and mostly confined to a wooden chair with his hands and feet cuffed. G4S provides the entire security system for Al Jalame, its infamous for its torture of children and its tiny 'hole in the ground' children's cells three floors below the surface.
At the protest we will be reading out messages to G4S from the parents of children who were tortured at Al-Jalame and who are currently caged at Megiddo, and also a message from the father of a 15 years old schoolboy who was abducted and caged at Israel's G4S secured Ofer prison on the West Bank. G4S provides the perimeter defence systems for Ofer Prison and the central command room inside from where the entire prison is controlled.
Many groups will be joining us on the day as part of the wider StopG4S coalition which focuses on all of G4S's criminal activity across the globe.
