Iranian MPs have called for an end to Israeli crimes and the release of abducted Palestinian lawmakers and ministers in a letter to the United Nations.
“We ask you as the UN secretary-general to take prompt action to force the Zionist regime to stop its savage acts and release the abducted Palestinian ministers and legislators,“ read the letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon which was signed by 186 Iranian legislators.
“In recent days, we have witnessed more savage crimes by the Israeli occupiers,“ the letter continued,“ Fars News Agency reported.
The MPs reminded the UN chief that the massacre of civilians and attacks on Palestinian students and children, prohibited by the Convention on the Rights of Children and the 1949 Geneva Conventions are taking place on a daily basis in the occupied territories, “while international organizations every day chant slogans about children’s rights.“
“The Zionist regime has also abducted Palestinian legislators and ministers in terrorist attacks which run counter to the principles of democracy and international laws,“ the MPs argued.
The Iranian legislators also emphasized in their letter that the Israeli regime should be prosecuted on the basis of international laws for committing savage crimes against defenseless Palestinians.
The Israeli forces have stepped up their strikes on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over the past two weeks and abducted two Palestinian ministers along with three lawmakers.
