October 22, 2002
In its first participation in European Television contests, Al-Manar
Channel won the Golden Award after being nominated "First"
in News Reports Category in Eapona Festival for Television contests
held for three consecutive days in the French City of Caburg attended
by major media figures.
Prepared by our colleague and correspondent in southern Lebanon,
Ali Shuaib, the report openly condemns the Israeli occupation through
evoking the issue of land mines planted in large areas in southern
Lebanon and left over after Israeli withdrawal in May 2000.
His report shows a donkey that entered a field infested with landmines.
The report is one among 318 others from 20 countries including the
United States, France, Italy, Japan and Argentina.
Al-Manar was the only Arab TV Channel to reach the finals though
it faced tough competition from French rival works. Worth mentioning,
on October 17, Al Manar Channel won the first reward also in Tunisia
Festival for its program Time Land Mark over Baalbeck episode.
